Gus Hansen is a professional poker player from Monaco, also known as “The Great Dane”. Born in February 13, 1974 outside Copenhagen, Denmark, he has already won three World Poker Tour open titles. He also won in the year 2007, the Aussie Millions main event where he was the tournaments first season winner of the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. He became a professional poker player in 1997, but was a former world class backgammon player and a tennis player as well.

Hansen first played poker at the Ocean View Card Room in Santa Cruz, California while he was studying as an exchange student at UC Santa Cruz. In 2004, he was able to finish 150th place in the tournaments Main event. In the 2006 Tournament of champions that was held, he successfully made a final table at the World Series of Poker, but had lost.

He was also known for being able to win three World Poker Tour open tournaments on his history of playing poker. He finally made it to fame when he was included into the World Poker Tour Walk of Fame in 2006 along with other poker legends Doyle Brunson and James Garner.

Before being a professional poker player, Gustav Hansen was then a professional backgammon player, as well as a tennis player. It was then when he became an exchange student when he started to learn and played poker professionally, which led him to more fame.

If you want a trivia about Gustav Hansen, here's two of it: First is that, in the year 2004, he was voted one of the People's Magazines sexiest men alive. And he only learned English through listening to Pink Floyd Albums.

Although Gus is seen by other players as a hyper-aggressive player, he is actually a loose or active player on the table. His wins and success is both a combination of volatile and good decision making when it comes to his game.

Despite of some of his losses on the poker table, he's still recognized as one of the best poker players and continue to make history of his own in poker rooms and tournaments.
