Playing Casino, gambling, betting.. Sometimes, its much better when you just watch. No loses, no worries. But if gambling is in your heart's desire, learn first to get the best out of it. Great advices and techniques are sometimes taught by gambling related movies. Sneak a peak on action packed with humorous scenes of the best top notched casino films ever made in the world.


I've put a rating on every movie, out of four stars (****), lets see what they got.

The Cincinnati Kid (1965)**1/2

          About Eric "The Kid" Stone, played by Steve McQueen whose up against Lancey Howard, played by     Edward G. Robinson, whose a veteran player of cards. These two guys  played a five-card stud with the Shooter , a dealer forced by Slade who was a poker player that was beaten by Howard to cheat in order to help "The Kid" to win. 

Best Part: When the Kid hits a full house while having a showdown with Howard.

Great line: “Gets down to what it’s all about, doesn’t it? Making the wrong move at the right time.” – Edward G. Robinson.

The Hustler (1961)

    Gambling action film starring Paul Newman as "Fast" Eddie Felson and Jackie Gleason as Minnesota Fats as two of the high-stakes pool hustler. Challenged to play with each other. The Hustler is based on the novel Walter S. Tevis. in the year 1959. The story is about the victory and down moments of the pool player “Fast” Eddie Felson and his quest to unseat the reigning straight pool champion of the world Minnesota Fats.

Best Part: Final match in which Eddie and Fats play for a cool $3,000 a game.

Great line: “Do you like to gamble, Eddie? Gamble money on pool games?” –  Jackie Gleason

Casino (1995)**

 It is based on the book written by Larry Shandling and Nicholas Pileggi. Characters played by Robert De Niro as Sam "Ace" Rothstein, Joe Pesci as Nicky Santoro, Sharon Stone as Ginger McKenna and James Wood as Lester Diamond.
Long, tedious tale of a number-obsessed gambler sent to Las Vegas by the mob (Mafia) to run a casino in the 1970s. Problem is, neither he nor his loose-cannon pal, who follows him, nor the hustler he decides to marry has any idea how to hold on to what  they've got. 
Best Part: Sam and Nick meet up in the middle of the dessert. 21 f-words in a less than three minute period.

Casino Royale (1967 - British)**1/2

Comedy spy film like 007 films. played by a whole circle of great actors and actresses. David Niven as the lead star, Sir James Bond. Another characters like Peter Sellers as Evelyn Tremble, Ursula Andress as Vesper Lynd, Orson Welles as Le Chiffre, Joanna Pettet as Mata Bond, Daliah Lavi as The Detainer and many  more.

It is an immense, look-alike spoof of  a James Bond films with Niven as the secret agent who relinquishes his position to nephew Allen and host of others. Money, money, money. This film is about money, as in money everywhere, a film that has a combination of funny and not-so-funny scenes.
 Best Part: Bond get's poisoned during a poker game.

The Sting (1973) ***1/2

    This 1973 gambling-related film was directed by George Roy Hill is undoubtedly a top rated film. Followed by a blockbuster sequel. Starred by Paul Newman as Heny Gondorff, Robert Redford as Johnny Hooker, Robert Earl Jones as  Luther Coleman and Robert Shaw as Doyle Lonnegan.

About the two small-time Chicago con men ( Newman and Redford ) try to put "The Sting" on a high roller and master of all cheating from NYC (Shaw) when one their pals and mentor (Jones) got murdered. The two cons wanted a revenge, and that revenge is to destroy Lonnegan.
Trivia: Nominated for ten Oscars, The Sting won seven, including Director, Screenplay, Art Direction, Adapted Score, and Costumes, while Julia Phillips became the first woman to win a Best Picture prize.

Ocean's Eleven (1960) **1/2

Watching "the boys" like Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean, Dean Martin as Sam Harmon, Sammy Davis Jr. as Josh Howard, Peter Lawford as Jimmy Foster and Angie Dickinson as Beatrice Ocean in a whole pack of comedy film like Ocean's eleven is a total yes. 

Fanciful comedy crime about 11 friends who know each other from World War II headed by Danny Ocean attempting to rob 5 Vegas Casinos for one night. With the whole Rat Pack stars in it, together they plan the whole robbery thing, but in the end they mess up and gone into a trouble.

Bugsy (1991) ***

A gangster film that brought the lead star his way to popularity. Starred by Warren Beatty as Bugsy Siegel. Together with Anette Bening as Virginia Hill, Harvey Keitel as Mickey Cohen, Ben Kingsly as Meyer Cohen, Elliot Gould as Harry Greenberg and Bebe Neuwirth as Countess di Frasso.
About a fabled crackpot gangster (Beatty) who helped build Las Vegas when he was sent to California to oversee the L.A. rackets.

Wall Street (1987) ***
Starred by Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, Daryl Hannah, Martin Sheen, Terence Stamp. And directed bu one of the famous names in movie industry Oliver Stone.
Young hotshot who's going nowhere in a N.Y. brokerage firm manages to button-hole the highest roller on Wall Street (Douglas) and win his confidence but sell his soul.

Big Town (1987) **

Starred by Matt Dillon, Diane Lane, Tommy Lee Jones, Bruce Dern, Lee Grant. This film is Based on The Arm, a novel by Clark Howard
Small-town crap shooter with a "golden arm" comes to Chicago, known as "The Town" in 1950 to become a big-time gambler, but realized that there are still a lot of things for him to learn. His experience taught him everything as he became a pawn of two high-rolling professional gamblers, then mixed up in a revenge scheme.
